NOM.ZA

The NOM.ZA domain is available to individuals for the registration of personal names with no commercial value. While companies may assist individuals in registering NOM.ZA domains, no registrations by corporate entities will be accepted. So by definition, the registration of a NOM.ZA domain name inherently cannot interfere with, nor infringe on any assumed rights of a third party to trademark, service mark, trade name, company name, copyright or any other intellectual property right. This means that commonly known brand names and other names that are often taken for commercial exploitation are likely to be declined at the discretion of the HostMaster.

The NOM.ZA domain will be provided on a first come first serve basis, but unlike other domains, the NOM.ZA domain registrants do not own their domains, they are simply custodians of them.

Use of the domain is expected by individuals wishing to register their given or last names, and any string of alphabetic and hyphen characters is acceptable if it relates to their given legal names (provided it does not infringe anyone's human rights).

A maximum of one domain will be allowed per registrant.

If NOM.ZA has found that there are two or more accounts from the same registrant all of those account and domains will be removed and the registrant will be barred from signing up at NOM.ZA. You have been warned.

At the time of the initial sign up of the NOM.ZA domain name, the registrant is required to have operational Domain Name Servers (DNS) from an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or a free Domain Hosting Service for their NOM.ZA domain name. Each server must be fully connected to the Internet and capable of receiving queries under the NOM.ZA domain name.

In the event that the registrant does not make regular use of their NOM.ZA domain names for a period of thirty (30) days or more, the applicant agrees (s)he shall relinquish the NOM.ZA domain.

As soon as ten thousand (10,000) domains have been registered, a general meeting of the NOM.ZA domain custodians will be called in Johannesburg to assume responsibility for deciding on the future policies and administrative structures for the NOM.ZA domain names and to decide on the venue for its continued hosting.

Thus it is hoped that the NOM.ZA domain will ultimately continue to be run co-operatively by the collective of those who have registered domains under NOM.ZA.

Further Fine Print: The registrant has a bona fide intention to use the domain name on a regular basis on the Internet. The Registrant is not seeking to use the domain name for any unlawful purpose, including, without limitation, injuring the reputation of a person, nor for the purpose of confusing or misleading them, whether they are natural or incorporated. The Registrant acknowledges and agrees that these conditions prevailing in the registration and the use of NOM.ZA domain names may change from time to time and that, upon thirty (30) days posting on the Internet at News, these policies may be modified or amended.
